Elective Courses

The Institute of Pop Music of the University of Debrecen, adapted to the period of the university semesters, is launching a course for the practical teaching of the instruments most commonly used in pop music genres (keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, drums) and singing as an elective course for applicants who already have musical experience, in the form of cost reimbursement. (Knowledge of sheet music and music theory is not a prerequisite for applying to the course.)

During the course, students have the opportunity to participate in one hour of individual instruction and two hours of band practice per week, during which they can gain knowledge about:

  • the vocal technique and the use of instruments in pop music styles
  • electronics related to the use of musical instruments
  • the specifics and professional requirements of band work
  • the technical and musical requirements of live concerts

At the end of the semester, participants who perform well in the band can present their skills at a gala concert.

The duration of the training is three months, the fee for which is HUF 25,000/month for University of Debrecen students and HUF 40,000/month for external applicants.

Completing the course is worth 3 credit points for the students of the University of Debrecen.

Application deadline: 05 February 2024. 
After application, admission to the course is conditional on passing a practical entrance audition in which a piece of your choice must be performed.
