Admission requirements for compulsory subjects
Only those candidates who have passed the main subject entrance examination are admitted to the examinations in the field of solfège - music theory and the compulsory piano examination. The aptitude test in music theory and solfège will be conducted online, and, as for the compulsory piano aptitude test, a video recording will be submitted for the main subject entrance examination and evaluated by the admission committee.
Solfège - Music Theory Written Exam (instrumentalist and singer):
Topics:
- Recognizing intervals (within an octave).
- Construction of intervals (within an octave) and triads (basic position and translations) for the specified lowest note.
- Write down a 4-beat, monophonic, medium-difficulty pop music melody after hearing it, based on eight plays.
Solfège - Music Theory Oral Exam (instrumentalist and singer):
Topics:
- Knowledge of basic concepts of music theory (tones, scales, keys, circle of fifths, pop music harmony signals, etc.).
- Recognition of common chords (basic major, minor, narrowed, expanded).
- Singing a monophonic, tonal, pop music melody from sheet music.
Piano (it is not necessary to complete the specialization in pop music keyboard)
- Two pieces of different character (classical or popular) with which the applicant can best demonstrate his piano skills.
Similar to the main subject entrance exam, please use a cloud-based video sharing platform (Google Drive, YouTube).
The online admission test requires a broadband internet connection.
