On Thursday, an Orientation Day was held at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen. The program was primarily designed to provide assistance to new students enrolled in English-language degree programs with settling in and managing their academic and administrative tasks. Furthermore, participants could try the soup called gulyásleves, make gingerbread, learn straw weaving and even furniture painting.

Once again, Erasmus+ programs are entirely available to students and researchers from the University of Debrecen, after the announcement of a decision by the Council of the European Union to end the conditionality procedure formerly implemented against Hungary. At the 28th annual International Opportunities Fair held in the Main Building of the University of Debrecen on Wednesday, participants could receive a comprehensive information package regarding the new features in the scholarship program, as well as about other mobility opportunities.
The University of Debrecen and India deepen on their existing relationship. During his visit in the University of Debrecen, Anshuman Gaur, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Hungary had a negotiation with Jenei Attila, Vice-Rector for International Affairs about the extension of the education, research and cultural projects. The diplomat gave a collection of books to the University and National Library of the University of Debrecen, and he opened there the India Corner, a thematic temporary book exhibition as well.
It was the University of Debrecen that hosted the Debrecen events of the Dante Festival, organized by the Dante Alighieri Society of Budapest and the Department of Italian Studies at the UD Faculty of Humanities. Two UD students from the Faculty of Engineering did exceptionally well at the WorldSkills international competition held in China. As representatives of Hungary in the industrial robotics category at this world championship of skills, Dániel Vígh and Károly Árpád Kis became the second-best team from Europe.
Artificial intelligence-based solutions that are either fully functional or have progressed to advanced stages of development were presented by students from the University of Debrecen at the DEIK.AI Challenge 2026 demo competition hosted by the Faculty of Informatics. The objective of the event was to provide professional support for promising projects, explore future development paths and prompt progress in the pertaining areas of research, commercialization and internationalization.
This year, the University of Debrecen hosted the annual meeting of specialists in Dutch studies from Hungary. The conference, which was held on Friday, October 2, at the headquarters of the Debrecen Academic Committee, focused primarily on the teaching of the Dutch language in secondary and higher education.
A White Coat Ceremony was held for the first time at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Debrecen on Saturday. At the end of the ceremony, more than three hundred third-year medical students donned the new white coats that symbolize the transition to preclinical and clinical studies. They also took a symbolic oath, pledging to pursue their studies with dedication and to apply the knowledge gained for the benefit of patients responsibly with empathy and humility.
The topics of the visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Hungary to the University of Debrecen were the opportunities for academic cooperation and exchange programs for tutors, researchers and students. It was groups of students and young researchers, representing the professionals and decision-makers of the future, who took center stage at an international event organized by the Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Programme and hosted by the Institute of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen on September 30. This recent event aimed to showcase successful Interreg ROHU projects implemented or completed in the Romanian-Hungarian border region and to encourage young people to recognize and identify regional challenges and to formulate new ideas for appropriate developments.
